What kind of Mountain Bike should I buy?
Bill asked:
It has been at least 15 years since I sat on a bike, and I am very out of shape. I would like to ride on the street, but would also like to enjoy the great Mountain Biking trails that AZ has to over. I am not looking to spend more than $400.00. I am 5' 11". What kind of bike would you recommend? What size bike would you recommend. Is there anything else I should know? I am quite clueless.

go to all the bike shops in your area and get schooled up. research the bike parts. then buy the one you want/can afford at your favorite shop.

Unless you sellect a good used bike to suit you it will cost you more than $400.00.If tou use town and country tires it will be quiet as well as easier to get started especally on the streets until you develop some muscles back again .A good bike shop will help you for size .If you hit the trails though you will be happier with a quality bike .The best bike was one I picked up for my son for $75.00 which had a value at the time of aprox.$1000.00. and he says its still the best one he has now. By the way Andrew,s ans. before this is good advice.

Okay, well why save money now and use it later to fix? So yeah $300-$400 will get you a good bike. I live in Arizona, I asume you do. I bought a $2000 bike, but for you go with a 19 inch frame, I am about 6 feet and I have a 19 and a 20. If you just want to get in shape, and go on road Mostly, go with just front suspention, back wont get you a good bike for your money you have to offer, Mine as well get Disc brakes, and also a 24 speed, so you can get every speed you want, 24 is also the highest they go in gears. Some popular brands are Iron horse ($$) GT and Fuji, those are bikes I stayed with. GT’s has good bikes in your price range, Iron horse really doesnt, I seen a few though. But if you have questions about bikes and your situation, Email me, or IM me, Moutain biking is my sport, and I love seeing people get into it. So Hope this helps!
