eBike (Bionx) vs. Mountain bike
zeuserx asked:
As I'm crossing the street a mountain bike goes flying by on my left. I follow an older couple for a bit and then get back up to my normal speed. I easily catch up to the mountain bike which is doing about 30 km/h. When I pedal my eBike with assist turned on I can easily go 38 km/h without breaking a sweat. I actually have to slow down to follow with. Too bad the camera's memory filled up and the video was cut short cause I pass by him a few 100M down the road on an uphill segment. The loud ...

What is the website you bought this electric motor?

I had a go once on an illegal 2-3kw electric bike. It was bonkers but a lot of fun.

Actually, it’s fine now. I just needed to shut down the charger, unplug the battery, unplug the charger and try it again.
It worked. All is well.

I did catch up to him on an uphill segment and just kept going. We was getting smaller and smaller in my helmet mounted rearview mirror.
But like I said: The camera’s memory filled up and it stopped recording.

Yes. I seem to be having that problem right now. I put it on the charger last night and it doesn’t seem to be charging. I’ll see when I get home if it worked.

Yes. This is possible with a menu hack. Usually the thumb throttle won’t work at 0 km/h. It requires you get moving first. I think it needs 4 km/h. With the menu “hack” you can drop this to 0 thus enabling thumb throttle from a full stop.
Pretty fun actually. Since the Bionx brake sensor is only mounted on the rear brake you can do “burn outs” if the menu is hacked. LOL! Just hold the front brake, put your weight onto the front bars and hold down the thumb throttle. Fun!

The limiter is removed. It keeps assisting a bit beyond 20MPH.

Have you had any problems with the battery charger not charging?

Can you start from stop without pedaling? Can you switch the motor on and off at will to conserve battery life?

My assist is “hacked”. The limiter (32km/h) has been removed and it’ll assist me all the way up to about 38km/h which seems to be the max RPM my particular version of Bionx motor is. The label on the hub motor says 300RPM – 350W. I’ve been told they make faster RPM motors.
The Bionx code to remove the limiter is menu 3773.
My battery is the Bionx 36V Lithium-Ion.

does it assist at 38km/h {23mph}?? I thought it shuts off at 18mph . Which battery do you use , Nickel or lithium?

The buzzing sound is the vibration from the electric motor that’s amplified by the camera. You can barely feel it when you ride the bike but the camera is really picking it up way too much.
